Sharing the process and experience of egg donation in San Diego, USA

This is my experience of egg donation in San Diego, California, USA. I searched for many egg donation agencies online and applied to many of them, but to be honest, almost all of them fell on deaf ears. Otherwise, many agents would say that I was not tall enough or had not enough education. So, when I met EggLove, their positivity and warmth made me feel very comfortable!
At first, they will ask you to fill in some information online to understand whether you are suitable, because the egg donation conditions in the United States are very demanding. Although I am almost 28 years old, they told me that I have a good education, current career and good-looking features, and it is sometimes difficult for prospective parents to tell, so after I filled in some forms, fortunately, I passed the review! Then I started the egg bank screening examination!
First, a vaginal ultrasound will be done on the third day of menstruation to check your follicle count. If it is less than 10, the follicle count is too low, and you may not be able to donate eggs, because the number of eggs retrieved may be very small. The obstetrician and gynecologist will also check if you have cysts and the like. If there is no problem, you will also ask the doctor to write down your ultrasound results. Blood will also be drawn for AMH and other hormone tests. At first, I was very afraid that my number would be very low because my menstrual period was not very stable…
If this most important thing is done, the subsequent inspections will basically be very simple.
【U.S. Egg Donation Examination Process】
1. Saliva DNA test:
You just spit your saliva on a container and send it to an American company for DNA testing! The results are very complete and can tell you if you have any hidden genes. I was tested for a few, but it is said to be very rare. Unless the male partner of the prospective parents carries the same gene, it will basically have no effect. The report will take about two weeks. Although it is very simple, I heard that many people failed because of this stage.
2. Chromosome karyotype analysis:
It seems to be to check whether you have the possibility of giving birth to a child with Down syndrome. It is to draw blood for DNA test. Everyone seems to have 23 pairs, and the result will be like this~
See if any of your pairs are abnormal. If there is no problem, you will be tested for sexually transmitted diseases, hepatitis B, etc. Basically, after passing the test, you can go to the United States to donate eggs~~~
After passing all the tests, you can go to the United States to donate eggs!
I was looking forward to my first trip to the United States!!! Later, the American Fertility Center helped me buy air tickets and arrange accommodation. At the beginning, there was a Chinese person to pick me up at the airport, which made me feel much more at ease, otherwise I would not speak English….
On the first day, I was sent to the room they arranged for me to stay. It was exactly as they said. It was a clean, large American room. Although we shared a bathroom, I happened to be in the wrong room with another girl, so I didn’t run into her. This was their room! It was so big that it even had a ping-pong table!
After arriving in the United States, basic examinations are also required before donating eggs.
The day after arriving, Egg Love took me to the fertility center to register. I filled out the information form and consent form for donating eggs in the United States. After confirming that there were no problems with the information, I received the meal fee ($50 per day). Then the American doctor directly helped me do an ultrasound to check the follicles.
I don’t know why, but it feels like English is very advanced??? Later, the doctors and nurses told me when to come for the ovulation injection next time. They also enthusiastically introduced their staff. The staff there can all speak Chinese, which made me feel at ease!
Later, when you come to get the ovulation injection, they will teach you to inject the ovulation injection three fingers to the left below your belly button. They will remind you when to take medicine, injections, return for consultations, and when to take the ovulation-breaking injection. Your stomach will feel bloated after the injection, which is also a very normal phenomenon.
I also went to Disney and Los Angeles these days. Anyway, I can go anywhere if I bring my medicine and ovulation needles. I like the sunny weather in San Diego. It’s like a vacation~~~ But remember to use UBER and some English translation software so that you can travel around the world by yourself!!!! The beaches in California are really beautiful! And there are a lot of hot girls and handsome guys haha
Later, when it was time to retrieve the eggs, I was very nervous for the first time, but they told me not to worry. I simply changed into surgical clothes and took off my underwear before entering the operating room. The anesthesiologist chatted with me first, then gave me anesthesia, and I fell asleep…
When I woke up, the egg retrieval operation had been completed. They said I only slept for half an hour and that I felt a soreness in my uterus. The nurse will give you painkillers and some food to replenish your nutrients.
Finally, I asked about the results of my egg retrieval. The doctor said that I retrieved 36 eggs, 28 of which were mature, which is pretty good!! And remember to ask the hospital for the egg retrieval report if you want to donate to another hospital in the future!! The doctor will also give you anti-inflammatory drugs, painkillers, stomach medicine, antibiotics, etc., and the nutritional supplement will be transferred to your Taiwan US dollar account the next day!
Overall, the people at LuAi are very polite and friendly. If you have any questions, feel free to tell them via WeChat. I didn’t feel any discomfort after the operation. The doctor told me to drink more high-protein water and have a good rest.
