Experience sharing and side effects of paying for egg donation in the United States

The motivation for going to the United States to donate eggs was because my job was unstable during the pandemic while raising two children. I had waited for several months for matching at many reproductive medical centers in Taiwan, but nothing happened. However, I didn’t expect that after filling out the form and uploading beautiful photos at Egg Love, I got a response very quickly! It’s really not a scam!
So I decided to share with you the process and experience of egg donation in the United States!
The most common questions people ask are: egg donation conditions, egg donation cost, egg donation fee, egg donation height, egg donation qualifications, and how many times you can donate.
First of all, the egg donation conditions are very simple. As long as you are 19-27 years old, over 160 cm tall, and have a college degree, you can sign up. Good looks, height, and education will be a plus! Because they will let prospective parents choose based on your photos, so the choice of photos is very important! They will look at your facial features, whether you have double eyelids, big eyes, a straight nose, and good-looking lips~
It would be best if you can record a video introducing yourself. Good conversation and body language will give you extra points!
After filling out the long form and taking photos on the website, the recruitment manager of Egg Love will come to confirm some details with me. If there is no problem, I can stay in the United States for at least 2 weeks, and then my information will be given to the American IVF center. Their medical staff will review my information, and if it passes, the benefits of egg donation will be listed. For example, those who only donate eggs in Taiwan and have not done genetic testing are all charged $8,000. In addition to the above conditions for egg donation, you will also need to do a follicle count test on the third day of menstruation, at least more than 20 eggs, and AMH must be more than 3 before donating.
In the early stage, many people will fail because of gene carriers, because most people will not pay for genetic testing to see if they have hidden disease genes, but if they do, it doesn’t matter. As long as it is not very obvious, such as leukemia, etc. This requires a shipping fee of 2,000 yuan to send the genetic saliva box to the American Gene Center for testing. By the way, I want to tell you here, because many girls flew to the United States after the test, so later American hospitals had mandatory regulations, the test fee and air ticket money in Taiwan must be paid in advance, and after the donation is completed, it will be paid in one lump sum together with the nutrition fund!
Subsequent testing of follicle count and hormones, chromosome examination, sexually transmitted diseases and drug testing is essential.
Below is the amount of advance payment written off after checking
At that time, PCR was also required, which cost a lot!
I won’t go into detail about the inspection, but remember to apply for ESTA after passing it before you can enter the United States!
The main inspections and schedule are as follows:
  1. AMH egg quality assessment
  2. Vaginal ultrasound (counting follicles)
  3. Saliva test DNA gene
  4. 23 pairs of chromosomes examination
  5. Sexually transmitted disease drugs Cocaine Nicotine Hepatitis B test
  6. Taking birth control pills
  7. Apply for a US ESTA visa
  8. Buy round-trip tickets to the United States
  9. Customs test video training
  10. Preparing to travel to the United States
Because I had never been to the United States, I was afraid that I would not be able to speak English, so I received Chinese medical training to teach me how to answer basic questions! I finally flew to Ontario, USA smoothly!
The flight to the United States
You can take a taxi from American Airlines.
This is an IVF center that donates eggs in the United States. It is very different from Taiwan!
Next, you need to go to the hospital repeatedly to monitor the follicles!
This is the injection.
After the egg retrieval, I had 22 eggs. I am very satisfied! The United States stipulates that people can donate eggs six times in their lifetime. I hope I will have the opportunity to go to the United States to donate eggs in the summer next year or the year after next!
